What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? Did you play any sports growing up? I have always been active. Before CrossFit, I spent most of my time running. In high school/college, I never played organized sports, but always made it a point to cycle, run, swim, anything I could to stay active. It was a great way to keep an upbeat spirit during those cold, winter days in Indiana!

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I tried CrossFit for the first time in Indiana, and was instantly hooked. After moving to Florida, I was trying to find a great gym for the price. A running injury put me back for six weeks, so I was trying to find something I could ease into.  So, I had the privilege of finding Naples CrossFit Bootcamp, and my obsession with CrossFit was re-sparked.

What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? Did you play any sports growing up? Boxing – 7 years and Baseball/Basketball

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I wanted to try something new, gyms are not for me, I need to move.

What was your first workout and how did it go? How did you feel after? Annie, I felt like I was going to throw up but it was the best thing ever.

Athlete Spotlight: Janet C.

Profession: Project Manager

What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? Did you play any sports growing up? I was not an athletic kid.  My parents wanted me to concentrate on my school work and playing the piano. I was not involved in sports or fitness until in my 20’s. Since then, I have been a group exercise instructor at gyms, completed many events covering all distances and several marathons, triathlons, including an Ironman.  Prior to moving to Naples, I trained at a kettle bell studio.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? One of my kettle bell trainers started to sprinkle in some CrossFit movements in to my individual program. I had an idea of CrossFit from watching the CrossFit games on TV. I was intimidated by the intensity of CrossFit because I have participated mostly in events where I go long and slow.

What was your first workout and how did it go? How did you feel after? My very first CrossFit class was a CrossFit Naples community beach workout. My husband and I were visiting Naples and our good friend, Rolando, invited us to the workout. He had been raving about the box to us since he joined a couple of years ago.
