I was driving down Golden Gate Parkway the other day, when I realized that I have driven on this road at many different chapters of my life, for as long as I could remember.
I drove down this road with many different cars with many different people. It’s as if this road has been with me on all my life. It has seen all my changes and transformations. I’ve driven this road as a beach bum in high school, a wanna-be thug in my twenties and now as…well I’m still figuring that one out. Needless to say it has seen all my changes, good and bad.
But what really struck me the most was that I too have seen this road change. In 1995 Golden Gate Park Way saw a transformation like no other when plans began to develop the first overpass in Naples. It cost millions of dollars and many years for this to come to fruition but it happened. At the time many locals were against this happening. They didn’t like change.
I say all this because like the overpass development in 95′ change is an inevitable part of our lives. It happens whether we’re ready for it or not.
One of the secrets of living a happier life is to learn how to handle the changes that occur in our lives. In fact, it is good sometimes to initiate life changes ourselves. Whether that is being a beach boy, a wanna be thug, or…. well you get the point. Be open to change knowing that Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
