How Paleo Should You Be?

How Paleo Should You Be?

Nobody is saying that you have to eat anything non-Paleo if you don’t want to. If you’re totally satisfied with eating 100% Paleo all the time for the rest of your life, great!

But for most of us, living a content life means occasionally eating something non-Paleo, and that’s perfectly OK. The way you eat should make your life better, not worse. If it benefits you overall (“you” meaning your physical and mental wellbeing, not just your abs), then there’s nothing wrong with eating something that isn’t Paleo, using whatever system works for you. Eat it, enjoy the experience, and get right back to your regularly scheduled meat and vegetables without any accompanying guilt or shame over “cheating” on anything.

For example, something a little bit on the sweeter side, some dark chocolate or some extra almond butter are all Ok from time to time, but anything with gluten on the other hand should probably be avoided more strictly.

Some people even do better in the long term by having scheduled cheat days or cheat meals. It allows them to have that planned indulgence and then get right back on track and have no guilt whatsoever because it was all part of the plan in the first place. (1)
