We have had the pleasure of getting to know both Cassie and Shaun very well throughout the last year and we can see the love and passion they have for one another. No matter what, they always manage to get here every week and make it work with 3 kids of their own. Even after the toughest workouts, you hear them cheering on the other and being their #1 supporter!
Here’s what they had to say about their love for each other and who the real Paleo chef is…
What made you guys decide to take on CrossFit together?
Cassie started out by taking one of your boot camp classes and wouldn’t stop talking about it. I figured I had to see for myself what all the hype was about. That and I didn’t want my wife to kick my butt.
What do you find yourself doing to motivate each other?
Encourage each other to eat healthy, ie talk one another off the ledge when one of us is holding a tub of unopened cookie dough. We also run together, go for walks on the beach and of course try to race our kids……. with the intent to actually win. It is very cool to have someone else wake up next to you in the morning that can barely move and is so sore in some of the same areas as you. Plus if you are upset with that person you know exactly where to poke at them.
Who’s the Real Paleo chef in the house?
Cassie makes sides galore and somewhat healthy treats. Shaun is the meat man. He typically cooks the main dish and a mean steak.
How do you both make it work with kids and still manage to workout each week?
We take turns and waking up at 4:30 helps. There is always enough time if you are motivated. We typically alternate each day and when possible we go together.
What do you love most about each other?
I love how Shaun motivates me by example in every area of life. To be the best wife and mother I can be, to have fun and to be serious and most importantly he encourages me in my walk with Christ by praying with me, listening to me, reading Scripture together, etc. I have been truly blessed to have married my best friend. And I love how Cassie emulates class and patience with love creating a foundation from which nothing is unmanageable. She’s a great leader in our family, marriage, and in life. As a mother, our children are blessed to have someone so healthy and caring raise them on strong spiritual principles. Our marriage is God grounded and we can debate or decipher things without argument. And I love the physical shape CrossFit shapes her into.
