Do yourself a favor this weekend. Spend some time watching the coverage on the Crossfit Games site or on ESPN3. Even if you only catch a few minutes, as a CrossFitter, it is a few minutes very well spent. Below’s the schedule. Check it out!

Bumper plates forgive: this is one of the reasons we like them. When things goes bad and we need to drop the bar, bumpers bounce. There is no permanent mark of our mistake, no forever heralding of our error, no scar that points to what we did wrong. No huge clang of metal plates announcing another failure. No dent in the wooden floor.

But we trick ourselves if we think they are safe.

No act — in the gym or in life — is really safe. All things have their dangers, their costs, their price. The real question posed to us is whether we are willing to pay the price. Whether we can stomach the cost. Whether it — this thing we want — is worth the cost.

No one knows that answer but you.

What in your life is worth the cost? This PR, that new skill, the blossoming of a relationship? What are you willing to pay and how will you pay it?

Everything has a price. Decide what you are willing to pay. Then shut up and pay it.

The clean builds immense strength and power but this is only the more obvious part of the clean’s story. (This complex movement actually contains within itself two princely exercises – the deadlift and squat.) The clean is unique among weight training exercises in that it demands extraordinary athleticism beyond strength and power.
Experience coaching the clean will show that a lack of sufficient speed and flexibility are common impediments to learning the clean and that refinements in coordination, accuracy, and balance are the biggest obstacles of all.

Strength: 3 Press- 3 Push Press- 3 Push Jerk x 5 sets
