Instructor Training Program (ITP)

INTRODUCTION
We truly believe we are able to offer a tremendous amount of value to our members because of the high level of professionalism and experience that our coaches provide.  This doesn’t happen by accident. Through our in-house coaching platform called the Instructor Training Program (ITP), we help mentor individuals who may be interested in becoming a CrossFit coach at our gym.

GOALS
To provide real-world application of strength and conditioning principles to CrossFit coaching. Besides learning the basics of what it means to be an excellent coach we also focus on developing other aspects of coaching which include: nutrition philosophy, communication skills, decision making, leadership development, business intelligence, career planning, and work-life balance.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The ITP was designed with two basic elements in mind:

  1. Teach participants how to become good, solid CrossFit instructors
  2. Keep the rules and requirements to a minimum so that the program maintains an air of fun, lightness, growth, camaraderie, and learning.

 

After completing this course, students will be able to confidently:

  • Motivate and develop successful athletes and gym communities.
  • Communicate in a way that helps you quickly build trust and respect with members
  • Successfully coach in a group setting that adds value to the membership base
  • Demonstrate and effectively teach exercise movements in a group class
  • Explain the science and application behind the CrossFit methodology
  • Learn professional skills that last a lifetime

While there are definite requirements to get into the program, the only real “structure” you will find in the program is the progress timeline. This is in place to keep you moving forward in the right direction.  We are only looking for those that are highly passionate, responsible, and self-starters on our training staff.

Requirements for successfully completing the ITP include passing a written test (Phase 1 & Phase 2) and a practical test (Phase 3). The speed at which you move through the program will be determined by your background, experience, and passion for wanting to become a coach on staff.

Distance Learning (CFL1)

Weekly On-call (20-30 minutes)
Test: 90% or above

Phase 2
Distance Learn (CFL2)
(14-30 Days)
Read the CFL2 Manual
Weekly In-person (20-30 minutes)
Test: 90% or above

Phase 3
Shadowing Coaching
(14-90 Days)
Week 1 -Lead Warm Up- Demo Skill of the Day- Shadow Class
Week 2 -Lead Warm Up- Lead Skill of the Day- Shadow Class
Week 3 -Lead Warm Up- Lead Skill of the Day- Lead Conditioning
Week 4 -Lead Entire Class

WHAT NOW?
Once you have successfully completed the ITP and are interested in coaching at Naples S&C we will schedule an interview and discuss potential opportunities. Options include CrossFit Coach, Masters Coach, Personal Trainer

CrossFit Level I Certification
As a CrossFit Affiliate, we are required to ensure that all CrossFit Classes are instructed b CFL1 coaches. Not our rule. Visit CrossFit.com for more details and dates. Weekend seminars run every weekend around the world. You can search for available CFL1 Courses (here).

**Note:  Completing the CrossFit Naples ITP in no way obligates you to be a full or part-time instructor at CrossFit Naples.  It also does not guarantee you a position as a regular instructor in the CrossFit Naples schedule.
